Shallow Water

2023

28 x 28 x 2.25in

Plywood, oak, plexiglass, cast aluminum, spray paint, spring reverb tank, guitar cables, 1/4in input jacks, contact mics, audio amplifier circuits, electronic components, velcro cable ties, 3D printed hardware

**This piece produces and processes sound. It incorporates a series of contact mics that are connected to the 1/4in input jacks on the front panel. Any instrument or audio device can be plugged in and sent through a built-in spring reverb tank, creating a deep, cavernous sound. There are aluminum castings of fingers and succulents that are fitted onto 1/4 jacks. These can be inserted and activate the contact mics while also creating a ground noise loop when touched. This piece is battery powered and needs to be connected to other sculptures in the series that contain speakers. The aluminum castings are of my fingers and are made from recycled beer cans consumed during the making of the work.
