Beer bottles, copper tape, solder, mdf, steel rod, spray paint, silicone, 3D printed PLA, plexiglass, velcro cable ties, amplifier, speaker, photocell oscillator circuit, 1/4 input jack, electronic components.
**This piece produces and processes sound. Stacked beer bottles are assembled into a column and joined by copper and solder tape, creating traces similar to those present in a circuit board. A speaker sits on top of the column and is connected to an amplifier that is sending a signal from an oscillator circuit. This oscillator is set to a very low frequency, creating a slow cycling waveform that produces clicks. The frequency of the oscillator is controlled by a light dependent resistor. As viewers move around the piece, they affect the available light to the sensor. The clicking sound that is played through the speakers speeds up or slows down based on this interaction between the viewer, light source and proximity to the piece. Additionally, the base of the piece incorporates a 1/4in input that can accept an audio signal.
